Living, Accommodation & Respite

Support to live with greater choice and confidence.

Explore flexible support at home, in shared living arrangements, in purpose-designed accommodation or through short-term respite. Every option begins with your needs, safety and personal goals.

Service 01

Supported Independent Living (SIL)

Supported Independent Living is NDIS-funded support that helps eligible participants live as independently as possible. Support can be delivered in a participant's own home, private rental or shared accommodation and may include assistance throughout the day and night.

  • Personal care, showering, grooming and toileting
  • Meal planning and preparation
  • Medication routines within worker scope
  • Laundry and light housekeeping
  • Budgeting, cooking and household skills
  • Mobility and transfers
  • Social and community participation
  • Travel to appointments, work, education or activities
  • 24/7 care and supervision for eligible participants with complex needs
Who may be eligible

NDIS participants with significant daily support needs who require help to build or maintain independent-living skills. Eligibility depends on individual circumstances and what the NDIS considers reasonable and necessary.

May cover

Support-worker assistance and supervision, help with daily living tasks, meal preparation, skill development, and community participation.

Generally not covered

Rent, groceries and everyday personal living expenses.

Levels of support

SIL support is commonly described as lower, standard or higher support, depending on the participant's assessed needs.

Service 02

Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)

Specialist Disability Accommodation is purpose-built or specially designed housing for eligible participants with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs.

  • Make independent living more accessible
  • Improve safety and ease of movement
  • Support effective delivery of personal assistance
  • Provide functional, modern living environments
  • Create opportunities for connection while preserving privacy and choice
Our role

Jonquilla Care takes a person-centred approach to SDA, helping participants explore living environments aligned with their accessibility needs, support requirements and personal preferences.

Important distinction

SDA relates to the dwelling itself. Daily living supports delivered within the home are funded and arranged separately according to the participant's plan.

Service 03

Respite Care

Respite provides temporary support for a participant while giving family members or carers time to rest, attend to other responsibilities and protect their own well-being.

  • Support in the participant's home
  • Short-term care arrangements
  • Centre-based activities
  • Supported group activities
  • Social and recreational experiences
For participants

Safe, professional support, new experiences and social connection, opportunities to practise skills, and enjoyable activities shaped around interests.

For carers

Time to rest and recharge, space to manage personal health and responsibilities, and confidence that their loved one is supported.

Service 04

24/7 Support

Where included in a participant's plan and support arrangements, Jonquilla can provide assistance across the day, evening and overnight. The level of supervision is tailored to assessed needs, routines and safety requirements.

FAQ

Common questions

How can I access SIL funding?

You will need to demonstrate the daily support you require and how SIL relates to your goals. This normally involves NDIS assessment and supporting evidence. Our coordination team can help you understand the process.

Can SIL be included in my NDIS plan?

Speak with your NDIS contact, Local Area Coordinator or support coordinator about your living goals and support needs. The NDIS decides whether the support is reasonable and necessary.

Is SDA the same as SIL?

No. SDA funds an eligible specialist dwelling, while SIL funds eligible support delivered to help a person live independently.

Can respite be personalised?

Yes. The setting, activities, duration and support approach should reflect the participant's needs, routines and interests.
